IBS Pune Dials East Africa for Students Placements and Academic Alliances

Pune, Wednesday 15th November, 2017:  IBS Pune has always spearheaded the International placements within IBS group. More than 50% of the group’s international placements take place from IBS Pune alone.
Keeping in line with the international placements of ICFAI Business School (IBS), Pune, new horizons were explored, this time in East African countries like Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.  A three member delegation headed by Prof GS Narsing Rao, Director, IBS-Pune, visited Nairobi, Kigali and Dar es Salaam to connect with the industry and university education. Topics such as training of industry professionals in East Africa, joint research in management education, development of business cases, faculty exchange programs, summer internship in Africa of IBS students, etc. were discussed and deliberated.

Recruitment of the IBS students in these African countries were, also, discussed with industry bodies and encouraging responses were received.
Prominent industry segments where IBS students have received placements include Banking and Financial Sectors, Consulting, IT, Sales and Marketing.
These excellent placements ride on the very well – thought – out and designed curriculum and delivery of the two year PGPM Program of IBS Pune. This is designed to impart managerial skills in students and equip them with appropriate knowledge so that they are able to have a global view of the organization, and look at organizational issues from a holistic perspective, irrespective of their specialization in a particular functional area.
The courses offered in the Program are practice-oriented with emphasis placed on application of principles, tools and concepts to address the challenges and problems faced by today’s organizations. These courses are carefully designed to facilitate learning in managerial decision – making within the context of organizational strategy. Students are encouraged to critically evaluate decision situations and use rigorous analysis in arriving at a particular decision. At the same time, the ethical implications of their decisions are also urged to be considered.  The Program is aimed at deepening the understanding of the key functional areas and strategic dimensions of management, and equipping future professionals with the latest tools and techniques.
The entrepreneurship cell (E-Cell) has been nurturing students in setting up their own businesses and turning them into job givers. In the last one year, our E-Cell promoted four student start-ups, two out of which have begun their revenue streams.
